Kadesh Barnea Winery

The winery was established in 2000 on an agricultural plot. The winery is a boutique winery, defined as a family winery which doesn´t produce more than 100,000 bottles.
In its present format, the winery produces 35,000 bottles, while each bottle receives the ultimate love, treatment and attention.
The winery is located in a roofed structure which includes all the latest wine technology to carry out the processes of pressing, fermentation and aging in French oak wood barrels.
The wine remains in the barrels for 10-18 months, allowing the wine time to soften and mature. This is the time that the wine develops its character, aroma and uniqueness. Every few weeks the wine is checked and tasted until the wine tasting team decides it is time to drink…

The Vineyard

 

It´s a known fact that good wine starts in a good vineyard. The vineyard was planted in 1995 in the Negev desert and spreads over 30 dunams, benefiting from the well-aired, mineral rich soil, from the caressing sunrays and the cold night winds that are typical of the Negev climate, and that have been revealed to be excellent for the red wine varieties.

The blazing sun contributes to the process of growing and photosynthesis of the grapevine, as it sucks up energy from the sunrays. The cold nights contribute to the strengthening and toughening of the vine, as it must overcome the low temperatures. The cold winter enables the vines to enjoy a deep sleep and to awaken cheerfully in the spring.


The vines which grow in sandy and loess soil with controlled irrigation and fertilization benefit from accelerated growth and are among the first to yield fruit in Israel. Our vineyard is composed mostly of red varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and some Petite Verdo and Shiraz.
The vineyard undergoes the processes of routing, pruning and thinning under the supervision of a farmer with 40 years of experience. Since the vineyard is physically isolated from other vineyards, it doesn´t suffer from diseases and therefore, pest control spraying is unnecessary.
The harvest is carried out in the chill of night and the grape clusters are transferred directly to the adjacent winery, where we begin the process of production…
